Leaving a legacy
(Making a Will)
We are stewards of everything we own and gifts in wills are a natural part of our giving.
For more than a thousand years, the people of Romsey have been generously supporting our Abbey and its work through gifts in wills, large and small.
If you would like to include the Parish of Romsey in your Will, you can contact the Parish Legacy Officer through the Parish Office (contact us).
The Legacy Officer will be able to discuss with you your options, with no obligation, regarding your decision to leave a legacy.
Any legacy left to a charity like Romsey Abbey is tax-free.
What will the Parish do with my legacy?
It is the policy of the Parochial Church Council that legacy gifts will be used to help fund development projects which may include buildings, equipment or staff.
We will be happy to discuss possible uses of gifts with the executors when the time comes, in order to ensure that we take account of the donor’s known areas of interest in the church and the Parish priorities at the time.

Romsey Abbey Appeal Fund
Romsey Abbey Appeal Fund is a registered charity (Charity No. 266393) established in 1973 with the principal purpose of raising funds for the restoration and repair of Romsey Abbey.
Since its creation, Romsey Abbey Appeal Fund has funded a wide range of essential repair projects at the Abbey, large and small and continues to do so to this day.
This beautiful Norman building provides an enduring focal point for the town of Romsey and the region. It is a home for many community activities, a much loved concert venue, as well as a thriving Parish church hosting daily worship.
The fabric of this 900 year old monument requires constant repair and maintenance to ensure that it continues to thrive as a community asset for the benefit of generations to come.
Donations and legacies for the Romsey Abbey Appeal Fund are only used for works of restoration and repair of the building, its building systems and the Abbey organ; they will directly support the preservation of this remarkable building.
Your donations and legacies are very welcome.
