2025 is a very important year for the Church of England as every parish is required to compile a new Electoral Roll. This happens every six years. This means that any person who wishes to have his or her name entered on the new roll (whether it is entered on the present roll or not) is required to reapply.  

Being on the Electoral Roll is an important way of confirming your commitment to the worshipping community of the Parish and to help develop the vision for the churches in the Parish. The Roll is also used to determine eligibility for attendance and participation at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting and for election to the Parochial Church Council. It is also used to determine eligibility for election to the Deanery, Diocesan and General Synod. 

Applications to join the new Electoral Roll must be made during the period 18^th February 2025 to 18^th April 2025. The new Electoral Roll will take effect from 1^st May 2025 when the current Roll will become obsolete.

You can apply to be on the new Electoral Roll by:

1. Completing a paper copy which can be found at the back of the Abbey or St. Swithun's Church.

Data protection is of the highest priority and the only people who have access to the information provided in the Electoral Roll are: the Clergy; the Church Wardens; the PCC Secretary; the Parish Administration Officer; the Electoral Roll Officer. We are however required to display the names of all those on the register for a period of 14 days prior to the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM). 

You can of course be a full and active member of the Parish without being on the Roll, but I hope that you will accept this invitation to join with others in the Parish family to demonstrate that you belong to a vibrant worshipping community.
