Maundy Thursday marks the Jesus' last supper with his disciples and his parting words, 'Do this in remembrance of me', initiating the commemoration of the gift of his body and blood through bread and wine, the Holy Communion. The service marks Jesus teaching and example of humility and service as we act out the washing of feet. The stripping of the sanctuary followed by the watch in St. Anne's chapel for 1 hour, mark the dark journey towards the cross as Jesus prays in the Garden of Gethsemane 'Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me, yet not my will but yours be done.'
