Continuing our focus on female composers, we open the concert with one of Emilie Mayer’s most successful compositions, The Faust Overture, which earned her a place in concert programs alongside her contemporaries.

We follow this with two monumental pieces of the orchestral repertoire: Elgar’s ever popular Cello Concerto and Brahms’ wonderful Symphony No.4, considered by many to be his greatest masterpiece.
